FAQ's

Traditionally there has been a sweep at a wedding as a sign of good luck.

Q. What areas do you cover?

A. Our coverage area is Leicestershire and Rutland.

Q. Will my home be messy and sooty after you leave?

A. No. We will place a clean sheet on the floor in front of the fireplace and dust sheets will be placed over the fireplace. We vacuum afterwards too.

Q. If I have a stove does that mean I don’t have to sweep my chimney?

A. Stoves are usually more efficient than an open fire but they still produce soot, particularly if the air flow is shut down to cause a slower burn. So yes, you should have your chimney swept.

Q. Does a sweep have to go up on my roof to clean my chimney?

A. No, chimneys are swept from the fireplace and roof access is not necessary.

Q. Should I just choose the cheapest chimney sweep since they all do the same job?

A. Would you choose the cheapest mechanic or the one who provides a reliable service? Price is certainly a factor but we don’t believe it is the only one. We offer a reliable and efficient service, and clean up any mess afterwards. We have twenty years of experience in chimney sweeping and may well have swept the chimneys for the previous owners.

Q. What if my upstairs chimney is connected to my downstairs chimney?

A. Your chimneys are nearly always separate and require individual sweeping.

Q. How often should my chimney be swept?

A. You should always try to have your chimney swept every year. Sweeping your chimney will prevent the build up of soot and therefore reduce the risk of a chimney fire.

Q. When is the best time to have my chimney swept?

A. Our recommendation is any time from September to December, in other words before you start using the chimney in the winter. Don’t leave it to the last moment as we do get busy.
